Flights Booked: It's for real!

Just booked my flight from Boston to Houston, Texas for staging! Bright and early June 22nd... I will be there for about 24 hours of fun-filled activities...then then training group will leave from there to fly into Tegucigalpa, Honduras!

....I guess i'm going pretty far, yeah?

  1. Congratulations on your placement, Lisa! Do you have to pay for the flight, or does Peace Corps cover everything? First class, I presume. :)

  2. PC covers everything! they have their own travel company, and they sent me the number to call and arrange the flight from where i live to where staging is, and then i assume they have all the flights set up for everyone from staging to country... easiest travel arrangements i have ever had to make! "where are you flying from?" "Boston" "ok you leave at 6am!"....
good luck with the process!! stick it out if its what you really want, the waiting and speculating is enough to drive you absolutely insane, but once your invitation arrives, its all worth it.
    whats your nomination??

  3. Thanks for your reply, Lisa! My nomination is TEFL, Central Asia in March. Was your nomination Central America or elsewhere?

  4. it was central/south america! i scoured PC wiki (the list of staging dates)and figured out that of the three countries departing in june for central or south america, honduras was the only one that had the job i was nominated for (primary education teacher training).

so when i FINALLLLY got my invite it was slightly anticlimaxtic... but exciting none the less. are you all over the wiki site, or staying away? its one of those things where once you start you check it CONSTANTLY. march departures probably arent listed yet (people add the date the country is leaving if they get their invite and its not listed yet).

AHH IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! now, did you want central asia/have a preferance at all? i didnt list a preference but i speak spanish/was hoping id get to go to a spanish speaking country.
